What does it mean to pursue a high quality of life? Is it about accumulating wealth, living in a luxurious home, or indulging in frequent vacations and travels? These are often the metrics we use to measure success and happiness. However, in a recent class about this very topic, we got so engrossed that we lost track of time.
A truly enriching language class goes beyond just learning new vocabulary and mastering grammar rules. It's about discovering the ability to engage in fascinating discussions with intriguing individuals in another language. Every moment spent in such conversations feels like a quality experience.
For me, the essence of a high-quality life lies in the pursuit of diverse experiences. It's about immersing oneself in the richness of life, continuously exploring the known and the unknown. It's not about chasing more holidays or seeking more work, but rather about embracing the opportunity to engage deeply with life's intricacies.
The concept of "learning through practice" is key here. By combining the sharing of knowledge (teaching) with the exploration of new territories (learning), one can truly embody a life of quality. This philosophy applies seamlessly to both language learning and the pursuit of a fulfilling existence.
People often ask me why I choose to learn a new languages such as Hindi, or why I continue to attend English classes despite being proficient. While Hindi may not be completely widely spoken in India, and my English skills may be adequate, the joy of learning lies not just in the acquisition of knowledge, but in the process itself. As Confucius aptly said, "Learn and practice from time to time is the great pleasant" Continuous learning brings profound fulfillment and happiness.
I consider myself immensely fortunate to have the freedom to pursue knowledge, aided by the guidance of exceptional teachers and the camaraderie of fellow learners. In this pursuit of quality, both in life and in language learning, I find true contentment.
#Quality is a choice #Gratitude to my teachers and students
Hindi?
