Saying Goodbye to Taiwan, But Not to Chinese Learning

In January of this year, Yuri (Ruyi) began learning Chinese with Teacher Stacy. At that time, she had already been studying in Tsinghua University's intensive program for nearly a year and had passed the A2 Chinese proficiency exam. Since she was set to leave Taiwan in March, she hoped that private one-on-one lessons would help her pass the B1 exam within the next two months.

Over the past year, Yuri moved from beautiful Kyoto to Taiwan because of her husband's job. Instead of spending her time sightseeing, she chose to focus on improving her Chinese intensively. As an employee in the benefits department of a semiconductor company, she was determined to enhance her language skills to expand her future career opportunities.

From not knowing a single word of Chinese to now being able to express herself fluently, her progress is the result of consistent daily effort. She often jokes, "This might be the hardest I've ever worked in my life."

During her year in Taiwan, Ruyi not only learned Chinese but also experienced Taiwanese culture, saw beautiful landscapes, enjoyed delicious local snacks, and made many new friends.

On March 15, Ruyi happily told her teacher that she had passed the B1 Chinese exam. Our last Chinese lesson was on March 17, and she expressed how reluctant she was to leave Taiwan. After returning to Japan, she plans to continue studying Chinese in her free time and work toward reaching the B2 level.

I truly admire this hardworking and dedicated Japanese girl and wish her all the best in her language-learning journey!
